It’s Never Too Late to Lower Your High Blood Pressure

A study was recently conducted to find out just how much difference it makes to lower blood pressure in elderly patients. The results were so dramatically clear that the study was halted early so that everyone participating could benefit.
The study was conducted in 13 countries at 195 different hospitals. 3,845 people participated with an average blood pressure of 173/91.
The four year study found that by lowering the blood pressure to an average of 150/61 the patients suffered an overall drop in mortality rates. Specifically, there was a 23% reduction in the death rate from cardiovascular events, a 30% reduction in stroke rate, a 39% reduction in death from stroke, 21% reduction in overall mortality and an astounding 64% reduction in death rate from heart failure.
The implications are clear for all of us. A lower blood pressure is essential to good health and long life.
There are many ways to maintain healthy blood pressure. Here are some proven tactics to help you keep your blood pressure right where it needs to be:
- Regular exercise and physical activity. Start taking more walks. Go to the gym. Take the stairs. All of these things can help you keep your blood pressure in check. Think of ways everyday to give your body a good workout. You’ll be surprised how great you start to feel.
- No smoking. If you smoke…stop. You will die early by inhaling smoke. It is toxic and it will kill you. Your blood pressure will reflect your smoking habits.
- Eat raw fruits and veggies. The more fresh foods you can eat the healthier you will be. At each meal try to work in at least one item that is good for your body.
